🚲 Due to inclement weather, the YVL bike stand will remain closed today. Today was the final day for the bikes season, so all bike stands will remain closed until Spring 2026. No worries, you can still rent bikes through @echocooperative

As many of you know, the federal government shutdown has reduced staffing and closed many basic services in Yosemite National Park. Restrooms, visitor centers, and ranger programs may not be available, and trash collection and emergency response could be very limited.

But Yosemite remains open — and so do we. 💚

At Yosemite Basecamp, we’re stepping up to help visitors make the most of their trips during this time and support the park to the best of our ability:

✅ Free visitor information at our site in at the information desk open everyday 8am-6pm in downtown Groveland
✅ Guidance on safe routes and current trail closures
✅ Clean restrooms and supplies before you head into the park
✅ Gear rentals and last-minute essentials
✅ Expanded access to guided tours during the shutdown.
✅ A friendly local team ready to answer your questions

What you can do to help:
🍃Pack out ALL trash — don’t rely on park dumpsters, but you can stop here to unload before you travel home.
🍃Bring extra food, water, and toilet paper.
🍃Learn how to use the “facilitrees” (use the bathroom outside without endangering sceanary, wildlife and other visitors.
🍃Be self-reliant and avoid risky hikes — rescue services may be limited or strained.
🍃Respect trail and area closures.
🍃Follow Leave No Trace Principles

- Deliver top‑notch daily cleaning and “stay‑over” services in cabins and lofts
- Deep clean and refresh units as scheduled
- Maintain laundry rooms, storage areas, and perform in‑house laundry
- Manage recycling & trash disposal with our eco‑friendly systems
- Help groundskeepers by tidying outdoor spaces, watering plants, straightening signs/flags
- Support snow/ice removal in winter months
- Assist in our retail store or lunch relief shifts when needed
- Provide excellent guest support and escalate any concerns
- Keep common areas safe and report maintenance issues

🚨Access to the Mist Trail will be limited between June 30th - October 30th 🚨

The Lower Mist Trail - from the John Muir Trail junction (just uphill from the Vernal Fall Footbridge) to the top of Vernal Fall - will be closed from 7:00am and 3:30pm. during the week days this summer.

The trail will remain open Fridays, weekends and holidays. It is expected to be open overnight unless the gates are closed and a notice is posted.

Hikers and backpackers headed to Half Dome and points beyond from the trailhead at Happy Isles may hike uphill on the Mist Trail if they reach the Mist Trail/John Muir Trail junction by 7:00am, Monday through Thursday. Otherwise, they must hike the John Muir Trail.

Stop by the Yosemite Basecamp in downtown Groveland on your way into the park for the most up-to-date information!

What You'll Do
✔️ Open the store each morning and audit daily and weekly housekeeping and facilities needs.
✔️ Follow up with guests on property about any overnight needs and assist them to ensure they have a comfortable stay.
✔️Clean & prepare guest spaces to ensure rooms and common areas are spotless and ready for incoming guests.
✔️ Laundry & restock linens, towels, and guest essentials.
✔️ Assist with facilities and groundskeeping by watering flowers, manageing fire pit, collecting garbarge and sorting recycling.
✔️ Identify and report maintenance issues like repairs or safety concerns to management.

🚨IMPORTANT UPDATE ON YOSEMITE RESERVATION

A reservation will be required to drive into or through Yosemite National Park on some days from May 24 through September 1, 2025, for those driving into the park between 6 am and 2 pm as follows:

May 24 through May 26 (Memorial Day weekend): A reservation is required from 6 am to 2 pm on Saturday through Monday.

May 27 through June 14: A reservation is not required at any time.

June 15 through August 15: A reservation is required from 6 am to 2 pm every day.

August 16 through August 29: A reservation is not required at any time.

August 30 through September 1 (Labor Day weekend): A reservation is required from 6 am to 2 pm on Saturday through Monday.

Driving through the park will also require a reservation if entering between 6 am and 2 pm. If you are planning to visit after peak hours, please do not arrive before 2 pm; vehicles blocking roads will be cited.

Reservations will be available through Recreation.gov beginning May 6, 2025 at 8:00 am (PDT). Additional reservations will also be released seven days prior to each arrival date.
